Sausalito Wedding Photography

A Sausalito wedding,
the Bridge as backdrop.

Six venues, the Cavallo Point lawn, Battery Spencer at golden hour, the SF ferry as transportation. The most iconic Golden Gate Bridge wedding view in the world, 15 minutes from SF.

Sausalito is the closest "destination wedding" feeling to San Francisco. Cross the Golden Gate Bridge, you arrive in a Mediterranean fishing-village waterfront. Hilltop houseboats. Battery Spencer with the Bridge front and center.

It is also weather-volatile. Summer fog hides the Bridge from 5 PM on. Pick September or October and the Bridge stays visible from sunrise to dusk.

September. Cavallo Point or Inn Above Tide. Battery Spencer for sunset.

The fog calendar

When fog will hide the Bridge.

May–August

Marine-layer fog peaks. Mornings socked-in. Mid-day clears. Late-afternoon foggy by 5 PM. Bridge often invisible. Skip these months unless you accept fog as the aesthetic.

September–October

Indian summer. Best months. Clear Bridge, no fog, warm afternoons. Top recommendation.

November–April

Clear, cool. Bridge views consistent. Storm windows possible. Cavallo Point + Inn Above Tide are best for guaranteed Bridge frames.

FAQ

Most-asked questions.

Cavallo Point or Inn Above Tide?+
Cavallo for 100+ guests + grand ceremony lawn + Bridge backdrop. Inn Above Tide for intimate (20–60) waterfront ceremony with the Bridge from the Sausalito side. Both have on-property rooms. Cavallo is more polished resort; Inn Above Tide is more boutique-luxe.
Can we get married at Battery Spencer?+
Yes. NPS permit ($200), max 50 ppl, file 30 days out. Free parking. The most iconic Golden Gate Bridge view in the world. Best at golden hour. Quick ceremonies (10–15 min) — the spot is windy and crowded with photographers.
Do guests need to drive across the bridge?+
For Cavallo Point, no — it is on the north side of the bridge, but parking is on-property. Drive across and tell guests to budget the bridge toll ($9 + $1 for SunPass). For Sausalito-side venues, same. Most weddings have shuttle or rideshare arrangements for guests.
Where do guests stay?+
Cavallo Point ($600–1,400, on-property). Inn Above Tide ($350–600, on-property). Casa Madrona ($300–500, downtown Sausalito). Hotel Sausalito ($250–450). Plenty of Airbnb in Sausalito + Tiburon. SF guests can also stay across the bridge.
Best month for Sausalito?+
September. Clearest skies, warmest afternoons, Bridge visible all day. October second-best. Skip June–August (fog hides the Bridge by 5 PM, ruining sunset). November–April clear but cool.
Can we do the Sausalito ferry as part of the day?+
Yes, and it is a beautiful underused feature. Couples + guests take the SF–Sausalito ferry from the Embarcadero. 30-min ride with Bridge views. $14/ticket. Quirky, photogenic, gets guests pumped before the ceremony.
How much does a Sausalito wedding photographer cost?+
AGV starts at $3,500 for 8-hour Sausalito coverage (no overnight needed — we are Bay Area-based). Most couples book 10 hours ($4,500–5,500) which covers full Cavallo or Inn Above Tide day + Battery Spencer sunset run. Elopements at Battery Spencer or Galilee 4 hours from $2,200.
What about combining with a SF City Hall ceremony?+
Strong move. SF City Hall ceremony at 11 AM (Tuesday-Thursday), then 30-min drive across the bridge to Sausalito for cocktail hour + dinner reception at Spinnaker, Trident, or Cavallo. AGV does this combo regularly.
