Santa Barbara Wedding Photography

A Santa Barbara wedding,
American Riviera.

Six venues, the 1786 Mission, the most beautiful courthouse in California, year-round 70°F weather. The most reliable luxury wedding region on the West Coast.

Santa Barbara is the most weather-reliable luxury wedding region in California. 70°F average year-round. Spanish colonial architecture. American Riviera coastline. 60+ legitimate wedding venues within 30 minutes.

It is also less photographed than Big Sur or Napa — which means a fresher gallery for couples who want the polished-Mediterranean look without the Pinterest cliché.

May or October. Mission first. Biltmore for the Coral Casino frame.

FAQ

Most-asked questions.

Why Santa Barbara over Big Sur or Carmel?+
SB has 60 reliable wedding venues (vs Big Sur's 8). It is also more accessible — Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) has direct flights. Year-round weather is more reliable than the foggy SF coast. The trade: less rugged drama (no Bixby Bridge). The aesthetic is "American Riviera" — Spanish colonial + Mediterranean.
Should we get married at the Mission?+
For Catholic couples — absolutely. Books 12+ months out. $1,200 + parish donation. Pre-Cana required (6 sessions, can be remote). Not Catholic? You cannot get married at the Mission, but you can shoot the courtyard for portraits before/after a Courthouse ceremony.
Is Santa Ynez wine country worth driving for?+
For wedding day, yes if you book Sunstone or Roblar. Santa Ynez is 45 min from downtown SB — beautiful drive through the mountains. For rehearsal dinner, even better — Solvang (Danish village) and Los Olivos have charming spots. Most couples build a 3-day weekend.
How does the Santa Barbara Courthouse work?+
Civic ceremonies in the Mural Room (free, $43 ceremony fee) or in the Sunken Gardens ($200 city permit). Photo permit ($1,500 for commercial photo, file 30 days out) for ceremony + portraits. The most beautiful courthouse in California by far.
Where do guests stay?+
El Encanto ($800–2,000, on-property if you book El Encanto). Four Seasons Biltmore ($1,200–3,000). San Ysidro Ranch ($1,800+). Inn at the Funk Zone ($300–500, design-forward). Hotel Santa Barbara ($300–500, walkable downtown). Hotel Californian ($400–700, downtown, recent build). Plenty of Airbnb in Montecito + Funk Zone + Mesa.
Should AGV travel from the Bay Area?+
Yes. AGV travels for SB weddings — 5-hour drive or 1-hr flight from SF. Travel + 2 nights lodging at-cost included in most packages. We have shot 10 SB weddings since 2020.
How much does a Santa Barbara wedding photographer cost?+
AGV starts at $5,500 for 8-hour SB coverage including travel + 2 nights lodging. Most couples book 10 hours ($6,500–8,000). El Encanto + Four Seasons + multi-day weekends $8,000–11,000.
What about the Funk Zone for portraits?+
Yes. The Funk Zone is the design-warehouse-and-tasting-room district near the harbor. Murals + industrial textures + boutique tasting rooms. Free, no permit for couple-only portraits. 15-min portrait stop after ceremony adds an editorial layer to the gallery.
