Palm Springs Wedding Photography

A Palm Springs wedding,
mid-century desert.

Six venues, the heat calendar, the Coachella blackout weeks, the Joshua Tree day-trip. Mid-century-modern desert luxury, photographed properly.

Palm Springs is the most distinctive aesthetic in California weddings. Mid-century-modern architecture. Pink-and-orange desert light. Mountains everywhere you look. Bohemian-luxe vibe at every venue.

It is also a desert. June through September will hit 110°F+. Stick to October–April, skip the festival weeks, book 12 months out for the top venues.

October. Mid-century venues. Avoid Coachella + Stagecoach weeks.

Month by month

What Palm Springs looks like.

October–November
Best months. 75°F, low humidity, no rain. Mid-century aesthetic glows in the desert light. Top recommendation.
December–February
Cool, perfect 65–70°F afternoons. Cold mornings (40s°F). Indoor venues + casitas preferred for ceremony. Off-season pricing.
March
Coachella month. Peak season for hotels (90% booked weekends 1–2). 75°F. Pricing premium 30–50%.
April
Last good month. 80°F. Crowds thinning. Stagecoach country-music festival + film festival = busy.
May
Heat begins. 90°F by mid-month. Outdoor ceremonies need shade.
June–September
Avoid. 100–115°F. Direct sun is dangerous. Outdoor ceremonies impossible. If you must, pool-side after 7 PM only.

FAQ

Most-asked questions.

When is the best month for Palm Springs?+
October. Peak weather (75°F days, 55°F nights), low crowds, no rain, perfect mid-century light. November close second. April good but Coachella + Stagecoach festivals make hotels expensive. Avoid June–September (100°F+).
How does Coachella affect wedding pricing?+
Massively. Weekends 1 + 2 of Coachella (mid-April) + Stagecoach (late April) = hotels priced 200–300% above normal. Some wedding venues blackout these weeks (Parker, Ace). Book around the festival weeks if you want sane pricing.
Can we combine with a Joshua Tree day?+
Yes. Joshua Tree is 45 min north of Palm Springs. Many couples do an engagement session at JT + wedding at PS resort. Or rehearsal-day desert dinner at Pioneertown (90 min north). The two regions complement perfectly.
Where should guests stay?+
Parker Palm Springs ($500–900, on-property). Korakia Pensione ($400–700, on-property). Ace Hotel ($300–600). Hotel Lautner ($350–600, mid-century classic). Avalon Hotel ($300–500). Plenty of mid-century-modern Airbnb in Old Las Palmas + Movie Colony + Vista Las Palmas.
Air conditioning for outdoor ceremonies?+
For October–April, you do not need it. May, hire misters + shade structures + limit ceremony to 4 PM or after. June–September, ceremonies indoor only. AGV will not shoot outdoor ceremonies above 95°F (heat-stroke risk for guests).
How do we get there?+
Palm Springs Airport (PSP) has direct flights from SF, LA, NY, Chicago. 2-hr drive from LA, 6-hr drive from Bay Area. Alternative: fly into LAX + drive 2 hrs. Most guests find the PSP option easier.
What about the Frederick Loewe Estate?+
Historic 1965 mid-century-modern home of Fred Loewe (composer). 5-bedroom estate + pool + 360° mountain views. $35–50K all-in for the wedding weekend. Books 12+ months out. Ultra-exclusive — only 6–8 weddings per year.
How much does a Palm Springs wedding photographer cost?+
AGV starts at $5,500 for 8-hour PS coverage including travel + 2 nights lodging from the Bay Area. Most couples book 10 hours ($6,500–8,000). Multi-day weekends (Friday-Saturday-Sunday) $8,000–11,000.
